Why do people answer yahoo answers questions?
What is the motivation behind this?
Answer
I think people answer the Yahoo Answers questions for a combination of reasons. The first reason is that the question from their site is on the Yahoo search page directly under the search box. Its a curiosity factor. You see a question and want to see what the answer was. Another reason would be boredom. You go to the Answers link and see what kinds of questions are asked. The third reason would be to see if other people are helpful and knowledgeable enough out there to give you thoughtprovoking answers to a variety of questions. The last reason I can think of is a superiority competition factor. Since Yahoo has a point system in place, users try to accumulate as many points as possible to get on the leaderboard.
